*Taps Microphone* Uhh… is this thing on? Okay… it is? Um, wow this place is different. God, it’s been almost 2 years since the last post. I’m gonna be real, part of that is that I wanted to do the redesign first before using the site again, but most of it was that I didn’t really have much to really talk about, was/am too busy on the grind of both CAD and my real ass job. Right, I have a full time job now.
Yeah, I don’t really have much on that, I have a full 40 hour job and yeah that shit takes up most of my time, like I still get some editing done over the weekend and maybe in the morning, but honestly the real reason why CAD Part 2: Electric Boogaloo hasn’t been finished is because of procrastination.
Everytime I get the chance to work on it I kinda just gravitate towards playing GregTech or a multiplayer game with friends or just… not fucking doing anything. And on one hand, I deserve to have a break. It’s hard to balance doing art and doing work when art isn’t work and I shouldn’t kneecap myself by constantly doing art when I don’t have the spoons to do it. On the other hand, I’d love to quote Defunctland with a screenshot because fuck that asshat billionaire.
That art making bone is my body is fucking shaking around wanting to be released into the world but my obligations doing my job is preventing that hard. This isn’t a call to action for anything other than myself, I need to get better at managing my time and energy in order to finally finish that fuck ass video. Thankfully, I’ll only need to make 2 more videos right after this last part in the CAD duology. A low-effort podcast-like video where we go through the other shit, including the solely gag comics and the animated series, and finally, a compilation of the first 2 videos where there’s some remastering of the first part, but it won’t be much beyond maybe slowing down the background, swapping the font, and reanimating a couple things, mainly the last part to be a seamless bridge from parts 1 and 2.
After that, I’ll finally be free to make whatever the FUCK I want. Including DataQuest or well, literally whatever, I got some YTPs I want to make because I want to make some dumb shit and it’s going to be fun as hell when I can do that.
But enough babbling on about what, updates about the channel and jobs, you probably noticed there’s a new website design now, what’s up with that, huh?
FINALLY, THIS REDESIGN IN FINISHED
yipee.gif
Ok so first of all, the design itself. Uhhh, yeah instead of that TV thing I went with the simpiler window design that I had with the intro. Yeah that was just done because it’s WAY easier to make and plan out than with making a bunch of 3d models and positioning them and making them work with 9-slice, that shit would suck ass to make. Plus honestly, I think it looks nicer, I think I’m nailing down my aesthetic, though I need to incorperate more ASCII art into the mix, which is why the DataQuest logo looks like that now.
But yeah, let’s start from the header and… head down? [INSERT BIG BANG THEORY AUDIENCE LAUGH HERE WHILE GUNNING ME DOWN]
Firstly, the new logo, now it’s not a really kinda meh logo thrown in krita with pattern overlays, now it’s that logo I’ve been using since the Pizza Tower video, and yeah, it’s that same logo from that one project update, but with a window around it. Another thing I liked about it is that I made it do a little floating animation that kind of looks like the GameCube menu for when you don’t insert a disk into the system. And that isn’t animated gif wise, that’s CSS Babey. If you right-click the gif, it’ll be the normal gif. This is honestly the most impressive thing about the site, other than the thing below it. The Quotes section!
So yeah I thought it would be funny to have a section dedicated to just having random ass quotes cycle every time the page refreshes and I love it, it’s got 50 quotes in it right now and I might add or remove some depending on how I feel about them. Though as of writing this, I haven’t put in all 50 quotes in yet, mainly because it’s a little hard to thing of 50 quotes regardless. But yeah, it’s just a simple JavaScript file that does it, so that it’s fully compatible with neocities because they only do real bare minimum stuff when it comes to hosting, which is intentional in order to foster a more old timey feel for sites, which I’m cool with.
I added a sidebar with all the navigation and blog stuff on the side at all times, I uhhh… got nothing really else to say that’s pretty much it.
And the footer, well I just kind of removed a couple things, RIP barney.gif, you were too sexy for this world.
The other pages got a revamp in some way, biggest one being the Videos page where I actually included various playlists from youtube because why not. Also the games page got an extra joke added on. I do want to finish a game, but god I got nothing right now.
My favorite however, is obviously the DataQuest page, basically being the same concept from the last time, but much better. I hope to update the page to something that can more accurately explain the series, but I would have to actually make it first.
Oh yeah, since I’m completely off-topic, you might not be wondering how my journey with Linux is going. Well, after the CAD video I’m going to make the full jump to Linux? Why? Well Windows sucks, but you also might be wondering “Hey isn’t one of your showstopper opinions about how Linux doesn’t have good editing software?” Yes, but that doesn’t mean I need Linux for that.
I BOUGHT A FUCKING MACBOOK PRO
Wait WHAT
Yeah you read that right I have a Macbook Pro now, an M4 Pro specifically, all thanks to having money from my job. So far, I haven’t been using it for editing since well, I need to finish the current video before I go along with that, but I have been using it for writing and coding. Like right now, I’m literally writing this on a macbook right now.
So what do I think of Apple’s laptop of… extremely expense. Well, it’s got a nice feeling keyboard. I don’t like the notch but my dark wallpaper practically hides it from view. I can play Sonic Dream Team. I’m already familiar with Final Cut Pro from highschool. So far I’m enjoying it for creative use. And yes, this thing is basically my hobby work computer. I’ll technically still have Windows on my main computer, but that’s for absolute last resort type shit when I make the move. Linux will be on my main computer for gaming and maybe some coding, but mostly gaming.
And since Proton is basically good enough, I really don’t have to worry about that shit because I don’t give a FUCK about most multiplayer games. DRM/Anti-Cheat that doesn’t allow Linux can suck my dick, but it will never get near it cause I don’t play that shit. I guess there would be like, one exception to that, but my macbook exists for that so I don’t have to play it on my phone.
But yeah, I’m gonna make sure to keep using this as much as possible because even with the job, this shit was still expensive as fuck and I’m glad I live with my parents right now so that I can make an expense like that without fucking myself over. Also, I technically have all three major operating systems for testing my coding on so that’s a good thing.
Will I ever go full applehead? No. I like my android phone too much to do that. Again, I just got this macbook because I hate Windows more. Honestly, my only complaint so far is kind of remidied by the fact that I can/did disable it with a single click, which is much better than Microsoft’s bullshit.
Also, my thoughts on Sonic Dream Team? Eh, it’s alright. I got another copy of Balatro now.
CONCLUSION
So yeah, that’s what’s been going on for the past… holy shit almost a year, time sure does fly by, huh.
I don’t know if I’m going to revive the media thread because honestly, I think I’m good. Maybe I’ll do it on this site, but then I’ll have to make like, an entirely seperate page for that and I don’t know how I’m going to handle that. But I think I do have a couple ideas for that.
Anyway, I’m gonna go back to reformatting the old blog pages to be a bit more consistent with my current style of formatting, maybe fix some spelling mistakes, idk. Okay bye!
